TAMPA, Fla. -- The nation's largest provider of multi-tenant unit (MTU) communications services is now offering an Internet-based communications platform that will give businesses and real estate owners a "future-proof" technological edge over their competitors. Intermedia Communications' (Nasdaq: ICIX) Advanced Building Networks announced today it is rolling out a broadband Internet Protocol (IP) access network to deliver voice, Internet access and hosted software applications to customers in multi-tenant office buildings. This new architecture uses packet switching technology and IP-based PBX hardware to converge voice and data communications, creating a business network that is fast to provision, scaleable and affordable.

"VocalData's Voice over IP (VoIP) technology stands alone in its ability to meet Intermedia's requirements for scaleable, carrier grade voice services. Cisco will play a prominent role as we extend our Cisco Powered IP Network into the customer suite. I believe our approach is both unique to the market and precedent setting," said Mike Dimperio, vice president and general manager of Intermedia's Advanced Building Networks.
