Inkra Enjoys $26.5M Funding Round

Lead investor in Inkra Networks' initial round is Norwest Venture Partners at $9.9 million

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Norwest Venture Partners, thepremier venture capital business partner for emerging growth IT companies,today announced a $9.9 million initial round investment in Inkra Networks,designers of a new class of carrier systems to deliver streamlined andenhanced services for Internet data centers. Additional investors includeBattery Ventures and StormVentures, bringing the total investment to $26.5million this round. Inkra Networks will use the financing for product andmarketing development, recruitment efforts and to strengthen its managementteam.

An emerging player in the communications systems space, Inkra Networks willdevelop and build data communications equipment to support IP servicesdeployment for large Internet service providers."The market is ready for a company like Inkra Networks," said NorwestVenture Partners' Managing Partner Promod Haque. "Due to the rapid growth ofInternet data centers and added pressures to provide increased operationalefficiency, customers are demanding a new generation of carrier-classnetworking equipment designed to provide superior performance while droppingthe total life cycle cost of ownership.
