Holoplex Debuts FSO System
Holoplex introduces enhanced free space optics at SMAU, Milan
October 18, 2002
MILAN, Italy -- Holoplex Technologies Inc. announced the general availability in Europe of the innovative optical wireless communications product “Enhanced Free Space Optics” (EFSO). Because of its ultra-collimated laser and unprecedented link margin, Holoplex EFSO has become the foundation for advanced all-wireless networks. The official introduction into Europe will be made at SMAU, Milan, October 24-28.A Holoplex EFSO network can simultaneously provide both optical backbone and access links, whether for a cellular carrier, a cable TV operator, or a government or enterprise network. “Enhanced FSO takes us way beyond the campus,” said Holoplex’s Chief Marketing Officer Anthony Bladon, “and Europe is our main launch pad. We are established and doing business here, and are looking to expand our representation in EMEA.”Dr. Fai Mok, CEO of Holoplex, explains a cornerstone of the Holoplex advantage, “Free Space Optics links have been limited to short ranges for high availability, typically up to 500 meters. But Holoplex elevates the available link margin to 42 dB -- 100 times that of today’s conventional FSO products. Consequently Holoplex links have higher bandwidth at longer ranges with higher availability. This has enabled entirely new network designs, and Holoplex customers are implementing all-wireless networks on a scale not previously thought possible.”Holoplex Technologies Inc.
