Highwave Optical Technologies introduces a new line of products intended for the CATV market
May 14, 2003
LANNION, France -- Highwave Optical Technologies (Nouveau Marché : HGWO), a leading European supplier of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) sub-systems for the deployment of high-speed optical telecommunications infrastructures today announced the launch of a new line of products intended for the CATV market (cable internet and television).
These new high power amplifiers complete the line of Highwave products already present in the telecom market, specifically in LH/ULH and metropolitan or access, and allow the company to move deep into optical infrastructures closer to the subscriber.
The CATV market is closely linked to the access market and remains an expanding market today. CATV systems are mainly deployed in the United States and in Asia, where they are in competition with classical DSL or satellite access solutions.
"Highwave possesses all the technologies and the necessary skills to address this market and to propose innovative and competitive solutions. Our patented double clad fiber gain technology is a major asset for reducing the costs of requisite power amplifiers in CATV networks," explains David Pureur, CTO of Highwave Optical Technologies. "Unlike other weakened sectors, the CATV market remains a market in full expansion."
"We are in discussions with the principal players in this market and currently in advanced qualifications with two CATV systems manufacturers who want to work with Highwave because they have found in us the skill and the service that they are entitled to expect from any strategic partner," comments Anne-Marie Angelelli, VP Sales of Highwave Optical Technologies.
