CHICAGO -- Hatteras Networks, the Mid-Band Ethernet service specialists, today announced that it has entered into a distribution agreement with Siemens Hungary enabling carriers to extend the value and Ethernet service capabilities of the existing copper network. The relationship has already resulted in a major customer win with Magyar Telekom, quickly enabling the carrier roll out Mid-Band Ethernet services in Hungary.

Mrs. Marlies Szente, Director of Siemens Communications, Fixed Networks Hungary said: “Hatteras Networks is the ideal partner for Siemens in Hungary as they provide the requisite technology advantage, adherence to standards and clear and compelling business case for services created with their Mid-Band Ethernet equipment.”

Magyar Telekom recently awarded Siemens and Hatteras Networks the combined solution to roll out Mid-Band Ethernet services within its network. The roll-out will enable Magyar Telekom to extend its current broadband and other business service offerings with a robust 2 – 20Mbps symmetrical service over the existing copper network.

“This relationship demonstrates how two innovative, industry-leading companies can build a partnership that clearly delivers on a market need, and solve a real pain point for our combined carrier customers,” said Kevin Sheehan, President and CEO of Hatteras Networks.
