The Comincon-Combellga group has selected Alcatel's turnkey solution for its fixed network in St. Petersburg

PARIS -- The Comincon-Combellga group, a strategic partner of Norway's Telenor, has selected Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) for its fixed network in Saint Petersburg. Alcatel will supply the Comincon-Combellga group with a turnkey solution including an LMDS (Local Multipoint Distribution System) network, ATM switches, network management and services such as installation, commissioning and maintenance. The Comincon-Combellga group will use the Alcatel network to deliver high speed Internet access, leased line, frame relay and voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and to build VPN's (virtual private networks). As part of the contract, Comincon-Combellga will deploy the industry leading Alcatel 7470 Multiservice Platform and the Alcatel 7270 Multiservice Concentrator for broadband access aggregation. With end-to-end network and service management provided by the Alcatel 5620 Network Manager, the network is able to accommodate the carriers explosive traffic growth while maintaining guaranteed quality of service allowing flow access at low cost.
