MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- Fiber Optic Network Solutions (FONS) Corporation, a leading provider of optical connectivity products, introduces its Pathways(TM) solution, a complete line of innovative, high-performance, independently tested passive optical network (PON) components and connectivity products that enable customers to implement reliable Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) networks, including Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH), Fiber-to-the-Business (FTTB) and Multi Dwelling Unit (MDU) applications. Pathways delivers flexible, scalable and field proven solutions extending through all areas of the FTTP network including; Central Office/Head End, Outside Plant and Customer Premises/MDU.
Through the deployment of passive optical networks (PONs), the most cost-efficient solution for FTTP, service providers are able to meet the ever-increasing customer demands for advanced services. Pathways enables service providers to deliver high-speed, bandwidth rich, converged services over a single network allowing them to offer new and enhanced services creating additional revenue streams. All of FONS Pathways solutions are geared toward increasing network reliability and efficiency while reducing installation and operating costs, making it possible for FONS' customers to accelerate construction and deployment of fiber optic networks to homes and businesses.
The key advantage of FONS Pathways offering is that it provides a comprehensive, all inclusive, end-to-end connectivity solution for FTTP applications, tailored to support all the major network segments. Products featured in FONS Pathways solution includes:
Central Office /Head End
A complete portfolio of fiber management solutions for cabling and connecting between network transmission equipment and the outside plant at the central office/head end. FONS' central office/head end solutions include high density fiber distributing frames, termination patch panels and splice shelves, high performance cable assemblies, WDM and optical component modules and shelves, and entrance splice enclosures.
Outside Plant
A comprehensive system of outside plant (OSP) products designed to speed the deployment of fiber in the feeder and distribution cabling plant. FONS' OSP solutions include a wide array of high performance products. With over 6,000 units deployed to date, FONS' fiber distribution hub (FDH), used to facilitate service connection and provide a primary convergence point for locating optical splitters in the outside plant, has received best in class, industry-wide acceptance and has been deployed in multiple markets domestically and internationally. Downstream in the outside plant distribution network, FONS RC(TM) product line is used to simplify subscriber connections from the PON distribution cable to the drop cable connecting to the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) at the home. Included in FONS RC product line is its RC rugged connector system, RC drop cables, RC drop terminals, and RC MDU terminals. FONS' RC rugged connector system, the newest addition to its Pathways solution, provides environmentally hardened adapters and connectors designed to reduce the time and expense of connecting a home to the FTTP network and is utilized in its OSP product offering of drop cables, drop terminals and MDU terminals. All of FONS' OSP products have been designed and tested to meet the stringent requirements to provide necessary environmental protection for OSP applications.
Customer Premises and MDU
A suite of products for customer premises and multi-dwelling units that provides high performance interconnection of fiber cables and equipment at the customer premises (building entrance locations, communication closets, computer rooms and other indoor environments) and multi-dwelling units (apartments, condominiums, universities). These solutions support both low and high fiber count applications and include environmentally protective enclosures and high performance cable assemblies and connectivity components. With FONS' pre-terminated enclosures, distribution nodes can be added to the network with greatly reduced installation times and improved system reliability.
"FONS is very pleased to be a part of the next generation access network evolution," states Mike Noonan, President and CEO of FONS. "Our innovative Pathways solution allows our customers to install and connect FTTP networks fast, economically and with the greatest reliability to deliver leading edge triple play services (voice, video and data) over one platform. Our customers have been deploying our Pathways products successfully for over a year now, with demand for these products growing exponentially as our customers continue to expand their networks and broaden their deployment reach." Mr. Noonan continues, "It is very exciting to play such an important role in the growth and deployment of FTTP networks serving all market segments from Regional Bell Operating Companies and Rural Independent Telephone Companies to Municipalities and Public Utilities."
