ATLANTA and TEL AVIV -- FlexLight Networks, a leading provider of high speed Gigabit PON (GPON; ITU-T G.984) optical access network solutions that provide high speed data rates of up to 2.488 Gbps , has been awarded the sought-after MII certification by the Chinese Information Industry. The certification is recognition of the quality and technical specification of the company’s solutions and enables Chinese service providers to buy in confidence, knowing that FlexLight technology has been certified for deployment in the country’s extensive communications infrastructure.

The certification comes as FlexLight announced the appointment of Simon WangXuan to head up a new office in Shanghai. Simon has almost a decade’s experience working in sales positions in the high technology and telecoms industry. He has worked for companies such as 3Com, ComputerVision and ORACLE and most recently was Sales Director of Juniper (formally Unisphere) where he was responsible for setting up the Shanghai office with responsibility for a sales team covering 16 provinces.

The opening of the Shanghai office and the appointment of Simon WangXuan reflects the growing interest that Chinese operators are showing in FlexLight Network’s GPON products. The office will enable FlexLight Networks to maximise new business opportunities in the territory while providing improved service for its existing customers.

Following recent government investment and the improvement of the global telecoms industry, China has emerged as one of the world’s fastest growing telecommunications markets and the addition of a new office headed by an experienced industry expert in the country is evidence of FlexLight’s commitment to its Chinese customers.

Gary Lee, CEO at FlexLight Networks explains, “The certification by the Ministry of Information Industry is an essential requirement for companies doing business in China. Operators in China can now buy with the confidence that our field-proven products have been stringently tested for use in Chinese telecoms’ applications.

“We feel that it is also important to increase our presence in China to illustrate our commitment to the development of next generation networks in the country. In Simon we have found someone who understands both the demands of Chinese operators and how our products can make a difference.”
