ATLANTA -- TelcoTV Conference, Entropic Communications, Inc., a leading provider of systems solutions to enable connected home entertainment, today announced the availability of the industry's first MoCA 1.1 enabled chipset, the c.LINK EN2210. This news directly follows yesterday's announcement by the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA(tm)) that the MoCA 1.1 chipset standard has been ratified. Entropic's MoCA 1.1 enabled c.LINK EN2210 chipset allows telco, cable and satellite operators to cost-effectively transform a subscriber's existing coax cable infrastructure into a 175 Mbps home entertainment networking backbone to easily share digital entertainment content such as video (SDTV and HDTV), music, games and images.

Entropic - A Pioneer of MoCA 1.1 Technology

In June, Entropic announced the availability of new feature sets for its c.LINK platform including: Parameterized Quality-of-Service (PQoS), packet aggregation for increased throughput, 16-node support, remote diagnostic capabilities and preferred network coordination. These important features are now part of the newly ratified MoCA 1.1 specification.

PQoS technology provides a superior user experience by guaranteeing that bandwidth necessary to support critical data flows such as video is never compromised. PQoS goes beyond typical priority-based QoS protocols by reserving network bandwidth based on the specific data rate characteristics of the data being transmitted. Packet aggregation technology increases net data throughput to 175Mbps. To accommodate an increasing number of MoCA devices in the home entertainment network of the future, MoCA 1.1 can support up to 16 devices per network. Lastly, with the new remote diagnostic capability, operators can monitor the MoCA network and diagnose critical situations remotely, avoiding service interruptions and costly truck rolls to the customer's premises.
