CALABASAS, Calif. -- Ixia (NASDAQ: XXIA), the leading global provider of converged IP and wireless network test solutions, and EANTC, a vendor-neutral consultancy and test facility, announced today a cooperative effort to deliver testing criteria, methodology and administration of multiple vendors’ 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) switches. This EANTC-led, industry-first set of benchmark tests provides carriers, data centre managers and application service providers with a detailed insight into various Higher Speed Ethernet (HSE) products using a consistent test methodology via Ixia’s 100GE testing solution. The first in this series of tests took place during May and June 2011, and the first two 100GE product test reports for ZTE and Alcatel-Lucent are available on Light Reading’s webpage.

Fixed and mobile packet networks worldwide are experiencing increasing traffic, driven by video applications, mobile data and mission critical business services. As an emerging technology, there are currently few neutral comparisons of various vendors’ 100GE HSE products – making it difficult for network administrators to choose the devices that best suit their HSE needs. EANTC and Light Reading have created a public test program aimed at providing network administrators with an unbiased, empirical view of new 100GE systems coming to market.
