BEDFORD, Mass. -- Hammer test platforms from Empirix Inc., the industry’s leading supplier of VoIP testing systems, have played a key role in accelerating the development and delivery of Ditech Communication’s new Packet Voice Processor™. The Packet Voice Processor is an advanced voice processing platform designed to enable carriers to deploy universal transcoding and toll-quality VoIP services.
Ditech engineers utilized the Hammer FX™ functional test platform, the Hammer Call Analyzer™, the Hammer PacketSphere Network Emulator™ and customized test routines developed jointly by the two companies, to speed functional testing, quality assurance and benchmarking activities required to bring the Packet Voice Processor successfully to market.
Ditech's Packet Voice Processor offers the industry's most scalable solution for the transcoding of a broad array of compressed voice codecs, a critical challenge for VoIP equipment deployed at the edge or border of the IP backbone. Integrated with Ditech's VQA™ software, the Packet Voice Processor overcomes voice quality impairments, such as acoustic echo and voice level imbalances, introduced in end-devices.
“Hammer test solutions, supported by professional services from Empirix, have served as one of our primary tools for verifying and validating the Packet Voice Processor’s unique capabilities,” said Lee House, VP of engineering at Ditech. “Use of Hammer platforms enabled us to perform rigorous functional and quality assurance testing at each stage of development. In particular, the ability to use multiple Hammer test platforms, both individually and in an integrated test environment, helped us ensure that this exciting new system provides performance and quality that exceeds carrier expectations.”
“Ditech Communications is an industry leader in solutions that enhance and assure the quality of VOIP network services,“ said Steven Gladstone, VP and general manager of the Empirix Communications Infrastructure Group. “The innovative technology at the core of the Packet Voice Processor created new testing challenges for both our companies, in areas ranging from protocol handling to signaling and voice quality measurement. Ditech’s VON show launch demonstrates the success of our work together over the past year.”
