PARIS -- Thomson (Euronext 18453; NYSE; TMS) today announced that its Cirpack Class 5 SoftSwitches have been selected by Datagroup, Ukraine's leading provider of integrated telecommunications services. Using its own digital network and central satellite station, Datagroup provides fixed, mobile and satellite communication and transmission services for telephone and mobile operators as well as large corporate clients. The number of Ukrainian broadband subscriber lines is rapidly increasing and grew by almost 500% during 2005, according to Dataxys' Quarterly Broadband Residential Market Analyses.

Datagroup's decision to offer a wider spectrum of user-friendly services via a new network management system means that Thomson's Cirpack SoftSwitch will be at the heart of the construction and development of Datagroup's Next Generation Network (NGN) throughout the Ukraine. This contract signature marks the beginning of a vast VoIP project as Datagroup are planning growth both geographically and in the range of services they provide.

Datagroup's decision to migrate to an NGN network was both logistical and commercial - for a more convenient and modern operation of fixed network with the latest European standards and the ability to offer a wider range of services to their clients. Mr Danchenko, Datagroup's CEO commented: "We needed to be certain that the solution we chose met our requirements exactly and selected the partnership of TTC Marconi and Thomson for development of our NGN. We believe this solution will help to confirm our position as one of the dominant players on the Ukrainian telecommunications market. We are looking into a long term relationship with Thomson as new features and upgrades become available."
