LAS VEGAS -- Cox Communications-Las Vegas is unveiling the fastest non-fiber Internet speeds available in the state of Nevada during a news conference designed to publicly demonstrate the power and capability of Ultimate Internet, the company’s new 50 Mbps high-speed cable broadband service. The news conference will be held on Dec. 9 at noon inside the company’s recently opened Henderson Retail Store, 460 Stephanie Street Henderson, Nevada 89014.
At the news conference, the company will conduct a side-by-side Broadband Speed Test that will provide a highly visual and convincing demonstration of the capacity for its 50 Mbps Ultimate Internet service to download very large files. The demo will pit its 50 Mbps service against a common speed of 1 Mbps and the key local competitor’s top-speed of 10 Mbps. The company will also illustrate the evolution of broadband speed in Southern Nevada, and how the telecommunications provider has contributed to bringing increasingly faster speeds to homes and business.
Since 2005 alone, Cox Las Vegas has invested over $740 million in technology upgrades and infrastructure expansions in the Southern Nevada area in order to make speed rollouts and other product improvements possible, such as the availability of its continually expanding number of high definition channels, currently at 61, the introduction of On DEMAND programming and the launch of Cox Digital Telephone.
Marilyn Burrows, senior vice president and general manager of Cox Las Vegas, notes, “The technology that enables our company to provide 50 Mbps over coaxial cable represents the latest development by the cable industry to provide 21st century speed and reliability. Speed defines what is possible on the Internet, and Cox Ultimate Internet will give our customers an online experience that allows them to do more, do it faster and perform it more reliably than with any Internet provider in Southern Nevada or anywhere else in our state using a non-fiber delivery system.
