Cox Calls on ADC's CMTS
ADC announces statewide deployment of Cuda 1000 cable modem termination systems by Cox Communications in Kansas
October 21, 2002
MINNEAPOLIS -- ADC (Nasdaq:ADCT; www.adc.com) today announced that Cox Communications has purchased and installed more than 20 Cuda 1000 compact cable modem termination systems (CMTS) for the delivery of high-speed Internet services to Cox's customers throughout the state of Kansas. The Cuda 1000, based on the carrier-class Cuda 12000 Internet Protocol (IP) Access Switch, the market leader in the deployment of DOCSIS 1.1 carrier-class platforms, provides advanced IP services for small regions of a large MSO's network as well as business-to-business environments such as hospitals, multi-dwelling units and universities. With one of the highest density port counts of all systems in the compact CMTS category, the Cuda 1000 supports broadband data, commercial and tiered data services, streaming video, and multiple ISP access. "The Cuda 1000 CMTS platforms installed in our network are performing up to our high expectations," said Jay Rolls, vice president of data engineering for Cox. "Our Kansas network serves many small rural areas across the state, and our customers demand top performance and extremely high reliability. The Cuda 1000s give us the same excellent results as the Cuda 12000s installed in Cox's larger networks, reducing the need for truck rolls and keeping a cap on our IP services management costs."
