ATLANTA -- Concurrent (NASDAQ: CCUR - News), a worldwide leader of on-demand technology that is shaping the future of television, announced today the release of new software for the MediaHawk 4500 video-on-demand server. The upgraded release increases output for the MH4500 to 2,300 streams (standard definition content @ 3.75 Mbps), a 40% increase in output from the server’s initial release in January 2007, while supporting additional NGOD (next generation on-demand) requirements.

“In a rapidly expanding VOD environment, there is constant pressure to increase streaming density,” stated Michael Pasquinilli, Concurrent’s vice president of on-demand engineering. “The MediaHawk 4500 continues to raise the bar in output performance while maintaining consistently high session success rates.” Mr. Pasquinilli also noted that all the new features are simply the result of a software upgrade, and still maintain the low maintenance and reliability associated with Concurrent’s use of commercial, off-the-shelf hardware for the MediaHawk 4500.
