SARASOTA, Fla. -- Comdial Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: CMDZ - News), a leading provider of IP telephony and unified communications, is pleased to announce its new converged communications platform.

Scheduled for launch in Q1, Comdial's new converged system embraces the industry standard Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for its IP communications, enabling interoperability across the enterprise and delivery of exciting new services. This platform supports a new way of communicating and collaborating, while fully supporting existing Comdial communications infrastructure such as PBX features, trunk, and station interfaces.

"Thanks to Comdial, we didn't have to compromise our desire to move forward with new technologies. We purchased the first roll out and continue to be satisfied with our decision," stated Rick Cobello, director of information solutions at Stewart's Shops, a regional convenience store chain with 300+ stores, 20+ district offices, and two corporate facilities. Stewart's needed to replace its PBX equipment, but switching from dependable, low cost, hard-wired equipment was a big concern. "At our corporate facilities, we retained 100% of our hard-wired station equipment, along with the added benefits of the enhanced options and features of the new system. The transition provided a seamless integration of legacy equipment to Comdial's new platform. Comdial meets our needs for today and our growth for the future."

This advanced IP communications solution for both single and multi-site locations, with the advantages of converged communications architecture, allows upward migration and maximum flexibility in deploying telephony services.

According to Bill Haefeli, president of CoServ Corporation and a Comdial channel partner, "Comdial's product is designed for the practical world as a system that works the way an end user needs it to, unbelievably clear and easy to install and maintain." Haefeli also added that, "It was quite obvious from day one that Comdial's development team has done a very comprehensive job designing and testing a system that is built with the end user in mind."

The product supports both traditional and advanced converged telephony services as well as call center integration, real-time collaborative communications, unified messaging, video conferencing, presence management, and telecommuting. Comdial's softphone is built on Microsoft® Windows® XP technology, which allows an array of SIP features to the desktop.

According to Rich Medeiros, president of Voice Systems Inc. and a Comdial channel partner, "We could not work efficiently without our new system. It has added a 3rd dimension to our operation with the soft phone. I have been out of the office and the video conferencing capability of the softphone allowed me to hold my sales meetings as if I was there. The system has worked perfectly throughout our field evaluation."
