EXTON, Penn. -- Tony Werner, executive vice president and CTO of Comcast, will deliver the keynote address at SCTE Canadian Summit 2011 next month in Toronto, the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) announced today.

Werner, one of the global cable industry's most respected technologists, will speak on the topic of "Broadband Video: Challenge or Opportunity" during the Tuesday through Wednesday, March 8-9 conference at the Toronto Congress Centre. Werner's keynote, sponsored by Huawei Technologies Canada, will set the tone for conference sessions that will address opportunities that are on the horizon for the industry, and the technologies that will help the Canadian and international operators to capitalize on them.

"As a technologist with experience in Canada, the United States and beyond North America, Tony Werner offers viewpoints that are among the most sought-after in our industry," said Chris MacFarlane, senior director, video business development for Cisco Systems and chairman of the 2011 Canadian Summit Program Committee. "We're grateful to him for his willingness to share his expertise and his vision of the future of cable with SCTE Canadian Summit attendees."

"Such topics as the evolution of next-generation video architectures, the transition to IPv6 and support for business services all are truly global in scope," said Werner. "Forums like SCTE Canadian Summit are a critical part of the learning process for engineering and operations professionals from North America and abroad as they deploy technologies that can improve the customer experience, reduce costs and increase revenue."
