WASHINGTON, DC -- Cogent Communications, a business ISP offering high-speed Internet access, announced today it raised $90 million in second-round funding. This brings Cogent's total equity funding to over $116 million. Combined with a $280 million Cisco vendor facility, Cogent's total capital raised to date is over $396 million.
Second round funding was led by Oak Investment Partners and included participating investors: Broadview Capital Partners, Worldview Technology Partners, Jerusalem Venture Partners, Nassau Capital, ACON Venture Partners (an affiliate of Texas Pacific Group), Capital Research, Barnard & Co., Comdisco and Boulder Ventures. The company intends to use its newly acquired funds for dark fiber payments, network equipment, further expansion of its growing team of employees and general corporate purposes. Ed Glassmeyer, founder of Oak Investment Partners, will join Cogent's board of directors.
