Inmarsat BGAN (Broadband Global Access Network) launch partner BT offers mobile broadband office environment via satellite service

LONDON -- As an accredited Inmarsat BGAN launch partner, BT, one of the world’s leading providers of IT and networking services, today announces the addition of BGAN to its extensive portfolio of IP access services. Heralded as the ‘office in a box’, BGAN provides a replication of a broadband enabled office environment. It offers a complete communications solution for on-the-move individuals and teams in remote locations.
Based on Inmarsat’s BGAN (Broadband Global Area Network) platform, BT’s BGAN is a telephony, IP, ISDN and video or audio streaming access service, with all the service support expected from BT. The range of small, laptop-sized units, provide both the modem and the satellite antenna and offer IP access peaking at rates up to 492kbit/s in each direction. Benefits include:
