TEWKSBURY, Mass. -- BlueNote Networks™, provider of SessionSuite™ IP Telephony software, today announced that it has secured $15 million in Series B funding. The round was led by new investor Commonwealth Capital, with additional funds from existing investors Fidelity Ventures and North Bridge Venture Partners. The capital will be used to further build upon BlueNote's traction in the market; driving the development of the Company's infrastructure and additionally supporting sales and marketing activities to best capitalize on the growing market demand for voice-enabled business applications.

"BlueNote Networks' solution is taking enterprise telephony to a whole new level," said Steve McCormack, general partner and founder of Commonwealth Capital. "We've seen an exciting shift to distributed, application-based Internet communications in the consumer market - with Skype™ and Vonage® enabling users to communicate from anywhere with the click of a mouse. It's only natural that this innovative technology makes its way to the enterprise, enabling new ways for businesses to communicate with users, customers and partners. With the collective expertise of their team, combined with tested and proven technology, BlueNote is clearly the vendor to lead this market evolution. I'm looking forward to participating in this exciting venture."

The SessionSuite IP Telephony solution from BlueNote Networks is the industry's first modular, standards-based software platform delivering voice, video and other communication services as simple IP applications that can be accessed over any network by any application or user. Leveraging the same data-center infrastructure that enterprises use today for other business applications, SessionSuite optimizes the use of the Internet to extend the reach of communication services outside of the traditional enterprise boundary. Enterprises benefit through SessionSuite's global reach, reduced costs of delivering communication services, and its ability to integrate voice into business applications.

Based on industry standards including Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), as well as new technologies like Web services, BlueNote Networks is the first to offer a comprehensive software solution that allows enterprises to embed telephony and other interactive communication services into everyday business workflow.

"We're very pleased to receive additional capital to fuel the growth of our vision for delivering voice and video as Web services in a Service Oriented Architecture," said Tom Burkardt, chairman and CEO of BlueNote Networks. "Our mission is to converge all real-time communications with business applications to allow enterprises to benefit from timely, flexible and cost-effective interactions between employees, customers, partners and suppliers, and accelerate business processes. With the support of Commonwealth Capital and the rest of our Board and investors, we're making that goal a reality."
