REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- BigBand Networks, Inc., a leading provider of broadband multimedia infrastructure for video, voice and data, today announced the appointments of Robert Sachs, Ken Goldman and Lloyd Carney to the company’s board of directors. The new members bring to the board a combination of backgrounds with expertise in operations, finance, public policy, development and corporate strategy at leading cable, networking and broadband access spaces companies.

With their addition, we have assembled a group that has breadth of experience spanning from start-ups to established public companies, including both service providers like our customers and vendors to them.”

Robert Sachs said, “Having worked in the cable industry for the past 25 years, I believe this is one of its most exciting times, due in large part to innovative technology companies like BigBand Networks. I’m excited to bring my operator perspective accumulated in varied experiences to the table as we build and grow our presence in the marketplace.” Mr. Sachs is a principal of Continental Consulting Group, LLC, a Boston-based cable and telecommunications consulting firm. Previously, he served as president & CEO of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association, the principal trade association of the cable television industry in the United States. Mr. Sachs has also held executive positions with Continental Cablevision and MediaOne.

“As a veteran of the network infrastructure market, I’ve had my eye on BigBand Networks for some time, watching as the company’s vision for broadband networks has been validated with the adoption of its technology and solutions. I look forward to playing an active role in solidifying BigBand Networks’ status as a premiere provider of video, voice and data solutions,” said Lloyd Carney, general manager of Netcool Products, IBM. He is responsible for integrating Micromuse Netcool solutions into the IBM Tivoli Portfolio. Mr. Carney joined IBM via the acquisition of Micromuse, where he was CEO. Previous to that, he was COO and executive vice president of Juniper Networks, and also held executive positions at Nortel Networks and Bay Networks.

Mr. Goldman was previously senior vice president, finance and administration, and chief financial officer of Siebel Systems, guiding the company from August 2000 through its recent acquisition by Oracle. Other chief financial officer positions Mr. Goldman has held were with Excite@Home, Sybase, Cypress Semiconductor and VLSI Technology.
