REDMOND, Wash. -- AT&T Wireless (NYSE: AWE) said today it is launching high-speed wireless internet service at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL).

The newly installed Wi-Fi service allows travelers inside terminal gates and concourses to have un-tethered, high-speed access to the internet using laptop computers and other wireless devices.

"The system is a high-tech welcome mat for travelers who rely on computers and the internet while on the road. As an early adopter of Wi-Fi, we have demonstrated that PHL is a leader in technology and this puts us on an elite list of airports offering the service," said Charles J. Isdell, Director of Aviation at PHL.

The investment in Philadelphia International Airport is part of a larger strategy by AT&T Wireless to address the increasing demand for wireless data services for travelers throughout the U.S. Either through its own network deployments or roaming partners, AT&T Wireless now offers customers access to Wi-Fi service at six international airports including Denver, Dallas/Fort Worth, Philadelphia, Seattle-Tacoma, San Jose, and Austin-Bergstrom. In addition to airports, AT&T Wireless offers Wi-Fi service through roaming agreements in over 500 major hotels. AT&T Wireless is also in the planning phase to deploy WiFi service at the Raleigh Durham International Airport.

"Today's mobile professionals are always looking for ways to stay connected to their critical corporate information while away from the office," said Abhi Ingle, vice president of business data solutions for AT&T Wireless Mobile Multimedia Services. "We're confident that travelers to Philadelphia International Airport will value the increased accessibility and productivity this new system provides them. Whether through WiFi or our high-speed wide area data network, AT&T Wireless is committed to offering the broadest selection of wireless data solutions to meet the growing demands of our mobile society."

For $9.99, customers can connect to Wi-Fi service as often as they would like, from a single location, within a 24-hour period either inside Philadelphia International Airport or wherever AT&T Wireless offers the service. In addition, a $29.99 plan allows up to five (5), 24-hour sessions from a single location, and a $49.99 plan allows customers to access Wi-Fi for up to ten (10), 24-hour sessions from a single location. After purchase, AT&T Wireless customers have up to six months to use these multi-use Wi-Fi service plans. Additional information can be found at
