MINNEAPOLIS -- Allot Communications (NASDAQ:ALLT), a leader in IP service optimization solutions based on deep packet inspection (DPI), today announced APV, part of the Invensys plc group, has completed an extremely cost-effective reorganization of their global WAN using Allot NetEnforcer bandwidth management devices with NetXplorer Centralized Management and Policy Server. Allot NetEnforcer works with NetXplorer to allow APV to monitor and manage overused links, establish usage baselines, track usage over time, block or limit specific flows and have the per-application, per-user visibility control that the project required.

With more than 70 offices in over 40 countries worldwide, consolidation became a major issue for Invensys, both to achieve cost overhead reduction and to consolidate their manufacturing sites into regional hubs. The APV network incorporates a range of technologies to achieve a cost-effective, high- bandwidth WAN, including MPLS, IPSec, L2TP, xDSL, Frame Relay and Leased Line.

Before embarking on a global WAN reorganization project, APV needed to establish a clear and accurate understanding of network use. They wanted to be able to monitor and analyze network traffic by volume, protocol, application and user, and generate dynamic as well as historical graphs and reports before applying controls to manage traffic.

Allot NetXplorer lets APV's worldwide IT staff log into the centralized management system with different levels of access and control their own NetEnforcer devices without affecting others on the WAN. They can also quickly identify PCs and servers that are behaving erratically or unusually due to mis-configuration or virus outbreaks and automatically limit the impact they have on the WAN environment. A straightforward interface gives access to graphical reports which reduces the level of technical expertise required and APV has access to 24x7 technical support. The devices were also so simple to use that APV was able to self-install all over the world without external suppliers, which reduced start-up costs dramatically.

"Despite the challenging environment of APV's global WAN, the Allot solution was rapidly and seamlessly deployed and enabled the smooth execution of a highly-complex global WAN reorganisation project without excessive time and capital expenditure," concludes Bob Willson, Global Network and Infrastructure Specialist at APV.

Allot CEO Rami Hadar comments: "Allot was able to deliver a solution that gave APV the ability to optimize their global WAN simply and rapidly, and continues to facilitate the reduction of operational expenditure in the long- term."
