OSLO, Norway, and COLOGNE, Germany -- Appear TV, a global provider of next-generation head-ends for broadcast and IP television, will launch a new QAM output module in response to cable operators’ demands for increased transmission bandwidth. Consumers’ growing appetite for video is putting pressure on operators’ transport networks, which now need to handle services in both analogue and digital services – and increasing volumes of HD video.

Thomas Lind, Technical Director at Appear TV explains: “Bandwidth is an ongoing challenge for cable operators – as consumers want an increasing volume and diversity of services, operators need to increase the capacity of their transport networks. For some operators this means something as simple as adding another service or channel is both a technically complex and costly process.

“Our QAM output module enables operators to tackle this challenge head-on, by enabling them to output 16 MPTS streams per module.”
