RICHARDSON, Texas -- Anritsu Company introduces today the industry's first single-instrument solution for differential electrical jitter testing of 10G XFP modules, as well as the electrical interfaces connecting host cards to the modules. Enhanced with a unique 10 Gb differential input/output (I/O) feature, the MP1590B network performance tester is a superior testing alternative for design engineers responsible for the verification of XFP modules, as well as carriers who must ensure the performance of their networks.

With the differential I/O feature, the MP1590B provides more accurate results than existing solutions that perform single-ended electrical analysis or that verify optical performance. Such non-differential jitter tests yield very different and inappropriate results. The MP1590B provides highly accurate electrical measurement of all jitter-causing conditions, including polarity and amplitude conditions. The differential I/O capability complements the MP1590B's strong electrical and optical SONET/SDH jitter testing capability, making it a cost-effective tool for analyzing XFP modules.

The MP1590B's low intrinsic jitter generation and high receiver accuracy are critical in achieving highly accurate measurement results on XFP modules. Differential electrical tests are especially important to switch/router and network component manufacturers, who previously have not had an adequate solution for jitter tests of XFP implementations that are now widely used and growing rapidly.

A uniquely flexible test solution, the MP1590B supports various interfaces, including SONET/OTN up to 10.7G, Ethernet up to 10G, Ethernet over SONET (EoS), PPP, and Cisco HDLC. Additionally, it supports both high order and low order virtual concatenation, makes unique simultaneous measurements on various protocol layers of different interfaces, and supports ITU-T O.172/O.173 jitter analysis up to 10.7G with the industry's highest accuracy of +/-20 mUI.

Combining extensive measurement capability, Windows XP-based ease of use, and portable size, the MP1590B is a valuable tool for network service providers, as well as device and system manufacturers. In addition to analyzing XFP modules, the MP1590B's overall performance makes it well suited for highly accurate evaluation of non-XFP interfaces on legacy equipment as well as for analyzing multi-service transport equipment. Because of its extensive measurement capabilities, the MP1590B can replace multiple instruments, making it extremely cost effective.

The MP1590B with a 10G differential I/O electrical interface and a 2.5G/10G 1310/1550nm optical interface is $162,614, while the base instrument configured as a SONET/SDH analyzer is $67,669. Delivery is 6 to 8 weeks, depending upon configuration.
