Alloptic, Coaxsys Target IPTV
Coaxsys announces partnership with Alloptic
June 8, 2005
LOS GATOS, Calif. -- Coaxsys, Inc., makers of the #1 deployed IPTV network, today announced that it has established a partnership with Alloptic that will improve IP-based video, voice, and data deployments in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) environments. Alloptic, a pioneer in the development of Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network (GEPON) solutions, enables true Triple-Play services to a subscriber's premise. Coaxsys' TVnet distributes the IP signal throughout a customer's premise by using pre-existing coaxial cable. The two companies' products provide an end-to-end solution from the service provider to the customer premise equipment.
The companies have agreed to work together to promote end-to-end solutions that enable operators to distribute IPTV, voice, and high-speed data throughout subscribers' homes.
The Alloptic solution leverages a standard ITU PON architecture while delivering a gigabit of bandwidth. Alloptic is able to provide today's worry free telephone services while seamlessly supporting next generation services such as IP HDTV. Using Alloptic's fiber access network solution, network operators can distribute high quality IP video services throughout a neighborhood in a cost effective manner. With Coaxsys' TVnet, the two companies have a complete solution that delivers advances in video and data services from the head-end all the way to a consumer's personal equipment.
Coaxsys' TVnet utilizes a consumer's existing coaxial cable to distribute the IP signal throughout the premise. Coaxsys' TVnet adapters receive the Ethernet signal, distribute that signal temporarily over coaxial cable, and then make the signal usable at any coaxial wall jack throughout a house for IPTV, high speed data, or VoIP. TVnet has already been deployed in thousands of homes across the country, and a TVnet network is capable of transmitting 100Mbps.
"We are excited about our partnership with Coaxsys because their TVnet technology allows IP services to be transmitted over in-home coaxial cable," said Mike Serrano, Director of Product Marketing for Alloptic. "While our GEPON solutions enable fiber-to-the-home service, there is still the challenge of distributing the high-speed IP services around the home without having to rewire each home with CAT-5 cable. Coaxsys' TVnet delivers 100Mbps, thus addressing the 'last foot' problem without giving up the performance that subscribers demand."
