ANAHEIM, Calif. -- OFC 2002 -- Alcatel Optronics (Paris: CGO andNASDAQ: ALAO), a world leader in opto-electronic components fortelecommunications systems, today introduced a complete family ofaddressable opto-electronic components. These new devices can be remotelycontrolled using an industry standard, high-speed, communication platform.This new generation of addressable optical components will improve the timeto market of new systems, increase their flexibility and reduce maintenancecosts by allowing devices to be easily interconnected and to remotelycontrol and monitor their performance. Alcatel Optronics will be conductinglive demonstrations on its booth at OFC highlighting the benefits of thesenew generation products.Alcatel Optronics’ addressable optical solution family is alreadyrecognized by major players in the industry. The reconfigurable 2.5 Gbit/sinterface introduced last year was the first of this family. Today, the 10Gbit/s 300 pin multi-source agreement (MSA) has also adopted this concept.Likewise the future optical amplifier multi-source agreement will use thiscommunication platform. Standardization of this addressable opticalsolution will provide the industry with flexible devices at reduced costs.
