PARIS -- Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) and Norwood Systems Ltd.today announced that they have signed a global reseller agreement by which Alcatel will be resellingNorwood System’s EnterpriseMobility® platform to telecom operators worldwide as part of Alcatel’sfixed-mobile convergence solution.
This agreement follows on a successful cooperation between Alcatel and Norwood Systems for BT’sProject Bluephone, announced in the press on May 19th.Norwood Systems’ EnterpriseMobility platform, which Alcatel will be reselling, enables a mobilephone to act as both a mobile and wireless office extension, switching between networksautomatically depending on the location of the user. When end users are out of the office, theirphone uses the GSM network and when they return, the handset becomes a seamless, wirelessextension of the office phone network (PBX). This cooperation between Alcatel and Norwood Systemsoffers operators a key value added solution for enterprises, which will bring more convenience, abetter service with more coverage and lower overall costs.
