Alcatel appoints Olivier Baujard, previously VP of corporate strategy, as CTO

PARIS -- Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) today announced Olivier Baujard is appointed Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Alcatel replacing Niel Ransom. The CTO function is responsible for the company's Research and Innovation programs, network strategy, intellectual property, standardization actions, technology evaluation, as well as of the supervision of key development programs.
Niel Ransom, who has been the CTO since February 2002 has decided to pursue new opportunities outside of Alcatel.
Olivier Baujard has been Vice President of Corporate Strategy, reporting to Niel Ransom since November 2002. Prior to this position, he held several managerial functions, including President of the Network Applications activities, the Enterprise Solutions activities and the Switching Systems activities. Prior to joining Alcatel in 1988, he held positions with government agencies dealing with telecommunications regulation and markets. He also worked for France Telecom in engineering and managerial roles. Olivier Baujard is a graduate from the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris and Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications in Paris.
