RESTON, Va. -- Acorn Networks, a communications semiconductor company focusing on wire speed traffic management and MPLS processing for the Wide Area, Metro, and Access Network infrastructures, today announced availability of genFlow-2X12c (ACN-2622gF), a dual port OC-12c traffic management co-processor. genFlow-2X12c is the most feature-rich, lowest cost, dual port OC-12c traffic management solution available as a standard product. Supporting multiprotocol processing for up to 64K connections, genFlow-2X12c is a single chip solution for Traffic Management, including policing, marking, discard, and shaping for both packet and cell traffic, protocol conversion and line-rate segmentation and reassembly (SAR), aggregation, and Switching. In addition to per-connection rate-shaping and queuing, genFlow's sophisticated scheduler also supports 512 strict priority queues and 512 weighted priority (WFQ/WRR) queues, allowing it to support a wide range of SLA and QoS/CoS configurations. It supports multiprotocol operation for packets, cells and frames, including IP, Ethernet, ATM, TDM, FR, and MPLS. Additionally, it supports up to 128 Mbytes of external SDRAM buffer for incoming traffic. “This product marks another major milestone for Acorn Networks and, provides an important solution for both today’s access and metro area networks,” said Eric Broockman, CEO of Acorn Networks. “Traffic Management is recognized as an increasingly important element in managing critical network control functions, and our solution provides the capabilities to deliver higher value-added revenue generating services at a cost point that will enable these advanced services in even entry level systems.” The genFlow-2X12c is priced under $150U.S. in 1,000 unit quantities.
