Cable One Chooses Nortel for VoIP Rollout

Nortel scored a coup earlier today when Cable One tapped it to be the MSO's primary voice-over-IP (VoIP) technology and professional services provider. Cable One, one of the 10 largest MSOs in the U.S., said it plans to roll out VoIP in up to 45 markets, starting in January. Under the agreement, Cable One will use the PacketCable-qualified Nortel Communication Server 2000-Compact softswitches and Nortel Global Services. Nortel will also provide Cable One with such integrated products as IP Unity's PacketCable-qualified Mereon 6000 Media Server and Mereon Unified Messaging application and Sigma Systems' Service Management Platform and VoIP Service Package. The companies said the new deal builds on Nortel's long-standing relationship with Cable One.
