MIDDLEFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 3, 2003--Zygo Corporation (NASDAQ: ZIGO), has received a contract extension for laser amplifier slabs, mirrors, and polarizers from the University of California managed, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). These high quality, meter-sized optics are to be installed in the National Ignition Facility (NIF), the world's largest laser system, being constructed at LLNL for the study of nuclear weapons physics and energy production by controlled thermonuclear fusion. The contract extension, valued at $4 million, runs through February 2004. The work will be performed at ZYGO's Optical Manufacturing Center, located in Middlefield, Conn. "Over 1500 of these optics have already been delivered to LLNL for the NIF Program against earlier contracts.
