ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Zagros Networks, a fabless semiconductor company developing a new class of rate-aware switching fabrics, today announced the closing of an additional $9.7 million in Series B funding. The round brings total capital investment to approximately $16 million. Mohr, Davidow Ventures led the round with significant participation by Novak Biddle Venture Partners. Cadence Design Systems joined in the round as a strategic partner. Zagros will use the funds to expand its sales and marketing infrastructure and to bring to market its unique rate-aware switching fabrics for use in edge, storage and enterprise switching and routing platforms. "Zagros Networks technology clears the way for next-generation application deployment which require quality of service based packet networks," said Dr. Nariman Farvardin, chairman of the board of Zagros Networks and Dean of the Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland. "This funding round is the investment community's vote of confidence in that technology." Zagros Networks rate-aware switching fabrics allow network system manufacturers to create next-generation switches and routers that provide a packet infrastructure that can reliably deliver all network traffic fast, dependably and efficiently under all conditions.
