Yafo Disperses at 500 Hz

HANOVER, Md. -- Yafo Networks announced today that it has measured the tracking speed of the Yafo10 at 500 Hertz (Hz). The test results show that the Yafo10 can compensate for polarization mode dispersion (PMD) even when the state of polarization is changing at a rate of 500 Hz, equivalent to polarization changes every two milliseconds. The Yafo10 will enable 10 Gigabit-per-second (Gbps) networks to perform well even in the most challenging environments where PMD experiences rapid changes, such as networks with aerial fiber or fiber laid under railway track which is subjected to vibrations from trains."The Yafo10 is setting the standard for the performance of a PMD compensator," said Yafo Chairman Dr. Henry Yaffe. "People have talked about shaking the fiber as one of the most demanding tests for a compensator. Not only does the Yafo10 performance stand up to vigorous shaking of fiber, but these tests show that you can jump rope with a fiber carrying a live 10 Gbps signal, and the Yafo10's compensation will perform flawlessly."
