REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- BigBand Networks, Inc., a leading provider of broadband multimedia infrastructure for video, voice and data, today announced that WOW! Internet, Cable and Phone has completed its deployment of BigBand’s Cuda® cable modem termination systems (CMTS) to expand its broadband Internet and telephone services. WOW! deployed BigBand’s DOCSIS® 2.0, PacketCable™, DSG and PCMM-qualified platform to increase broadband access speeds and deliver enhanced voice-over-IP (VoIP) services. WOW!, which also uses BigBand platforms to deliver digital video services, now uses BigBand platforms to support each of its video, voice and data offerings.

“WOW! customers were eager for higher access speeds and comprehensive triple play services that include VoIP, which we are fulfilling through this expansion of our relationship with BigBand Networks,” said Michael H. Brody, chief technical officer for WOW!. “After extensive evaluation of our alternatives, we believe BigBand’s Cuda offers the best solution for increased capacity and enhanced reliability in WOW! systems. BigBand’s roadmap includes plans for capacity increases with a Modular CMTS (M-CMTS) architecture, as well as support for DOCSIS® 3.0 downstream channel bonding that leverages the hardware we buy today.”
