Wi-LAN appoints vice presidents to drive growth

CALGARY, Canada -- Wi-LAN Inc. (TSX:WIN), a global provider of broadband wireless communication products and technologies and a charter member of the WiMAX Forum(1), today announced the appointment of two new vice presidents to leverage the Company's technology leadership into sales growth as the company approaches the introduction of the world's first WiMAX Certified(1) equipment in mid-2005. Chris Beadle will be starting as Wi-LAN's Vice President - Global Sales on October 12, and John Seliga will be Wi-LAN's Vice President - Marketing starting on October 15. Mr. Beadle held vice president level sales and marketing positions at Bell West and TELUS Communications between 1996 and 2002. Mr. Seliga's most recent position was Vice President Marketing - IP Solutions at TELUS Communications and he has held several executive positions at TELUS over the past eight years.

Mr. Beadle was Vice President Marketing of Bell West from 2000 to 2002, and was Vice President Sales from 1999 to 2000. He was Vice President Sales and Marketing at TELUS Marketing Services from 1996 to 1999, and prior to that he held several senior sales and marketing positions in the Canadian telecom and technology sectors. Since 2002 Mr. Beadle has been Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Donorware Inc., a provider of outsourced technology services to non-profit organizations. Mr. Beadle holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto.

Mr. Seliga was Vice President Marketing - IP Solutions at TELUS Communications from 2002 to 2004, and was Vice President Data and IP and Vice President National Hosting Solutions from 2000 to 2002. From 1996 to 2000 he held several senior information technology and e-business positions at TELUS and prior to 1996 he worked as a communications technology consultant with Andersen Consulting. Mr. Seliga holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BsC Eng) from Queen's University and has completed executive training programs from the Ivey Business School, University of Western Ontario, and from Harvard / MIT.
