Wayport Acquires NetPoint

Wayport acquires high-speed Internet provider NetPoint, which serves the hospitality industry in Europe and the Middle East

AUSTIN, Texas and COPENHAGEN -- Wayport, one of the world's largest providers of Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) wireless and wired high-speed Internet access to mobile travelers in more than 9,000 locations including hotels, airports, McDonald's, Hertz and other retail brands, announced today that it has acquired NetPoint A/S, one of the largest providers of high-speed Internet access for the hospitality industry in Europe and the Middle East.

The NetPoint acquisition brings with it more than 120 premium hotel properties across 24 countries including hotels from chains such as Accor/Sofitel, Mercure, Ibis, First, Hilton, Park Inn, Radisson SAS, Remmen, Scandic and Zleep -- as well as a number of privately held hotel properties. The NetPoint team, based in Copenhagen, Denmark, will drive Wayport's strategic focus on expanding operations in Europe and the Middle East.
