MADRID, Spain -- KubiWireless, a Spanish company developing the first network of wireless hotspots for high-speed Internet access in Spain, and Vodafone Spain have today announced the signing of a commercial agreement under which Vodafone customers will have mobile Internet access in all KubiWireless hotspots in Spain, using Wi-Fi technology.
Through this agreement, which fits within Vodafone’s strategy as a provider of mobile voice and data telecommunications services, Vodafone Spain will become the first Spanish mobile operator to offer customers a portfolio of services integrating mobile data access through both GPRS and Wi-Fi technologies. Vodafone Spain will directly bill its users, who will enjoy the convenience of a single invoice.
KubiWireless, which has established itself during 2003 as Spain’s reference for the operation of wireless Internet access services, brings its leading position in the Spanish Wi-Fi public access market with more than 130 access points or hotspots in places such as hotels, airports, and convention and business centres. The Kubi network currently consists of major hotel groups, including ABBA Hoteles, Hoteles Silken, Husa Hoteles, Derby Hotels, Iberostar, Citypark Hoteles and Rafael Hoteles, and prestigious hotels such as Hotel Ritz Barcelona, Hotel Majestic and Hotel Claris in Barcelona, as well as Hotel Wellington and Hotel Husa Princesa in Madrid. The Kubi network also comprises Spanair VIP lounges at both Madrid and Barcelona airports and the Barcelona Stock Exchange building.
