CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Vocera Communications, a wireless communication company providing instant voice communication for mobile personnel, announced today that Martin J. Silver has joined the company as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

"We are delighted to bring Martin Silver on board," said Julie Shimer, CEO of Vocera Communications. "With more than 15 years experience as the chief financial officer at pre-IPO and publicly traded high-tech companies, he has a proven track record in overseeing financial operations, building investor relations, managing cash, and achieving rapid growth, which will be critical as we transition from a start-up to a fast-growing enterprise."

"Vocera solves critical communication problems and makes a real impact on improving workflow and streamlining efficiencies for customers," said Silver. "Vocera has truly defined a better way to communicate and is poised for high growth."

The Vocera Communications System enables mission-critical mobile workers within buildings or campuses to instantly communicate with one another using wearable communication badges. The system provides hands-free operation with the use of simple voice commands. Targeting the hospital, retail, hospitality, and other in-building environments, the Vocera System combines the leading-edge technologies of wireless LAN, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and speech recognition to allow instant communication.

Using basic voice commands, the Vocera System instantly connects people to people, so they can get information, make decisions, and act quickly, anytime, anywhere in any wireless-networked building or campus environment.

Silver most recently was CFO for Elance, where he was responsible for all financial and administrative matters for the company. Prior to joining Elance, Silver was CFO and corporate secretary for Green Border Technologies, where he managed all the financial, MIS, facilities, and administration functions for the company. Previously, he worked for Credence Systems Corporation and Corsair Communications.
