Virtual Universe announced the launch of Personal Numbers
July 18, 2006
LONDON -- Virtual Universe, part of the Amplefuture Group, a leader in integrated consumer interactivity solutions, today announces the launch of Personal Numbers. This offering enables media organizations and networking websites to provide customers with anonymous phone numbers that forward to their real mobile and landline phones as well as International numbers; and then share in revenues generated each time someone calls the Personal Number.
Personal (or Follow-Me) Numbers are ideal for customers using dating/networking, classifieds and jobseeker websites and services. Indicated by a 070 prefix, Personal Numbers direct incoming calls to another number, shielding a person's real phone number from other callers. It's quick and easy to sign-up for a Personal Number. Visit www.virtual-universe.net to experience the sign-up process, which takes only minutes. Companies can use the same web interface to offer Personal Numbers to their audiences.
"Savvy media and web companies immediately recognize the benefits of Personal Numbers as a way to open up a new revenue stream and also offer a valuable incentive to customers,' said Boaz Tal, General Manager of Business Development for Virtual Universe, the Amplefuture Group company providing Personal Numbers. "A decline in ad revenues associated with classifieds and increased competition among dating subscription sites puts pressure on media owners to find new ways to monetize their services. Personal Numbers offer a turn-key solution which can generate immediate revenues.'
All incoming calls to Personal Numbers are free to the person receiving the calls, whereas the caller to the Personal Number is charged at a rate set by the company offering the Personal Numbers. Companies can track revenues and get a direct share of the profit on each call charge. Additionally, companies can also charge consumers a fee to purchase a number and keep it over a period; or alternatively, Personal Numbers can be provided as a 'value-added' free feature.
For the consumer, a Personal Number provides a readily available and controllable phone number which isn't tied to a specific geographic location. A Personal Number enables the customer to stop receiving unwanted calls; to direct calls from their Personal Number to a forwarding number of their choice - to a voicemail, landline or mobile phone; and to block callers.
