STOCKHOLM -- SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced that Vattenfall Service, the service subsidiary of the Swedish energy corporation Vattenfall (Europe's fifth largest energy provider), has selected mySAP(TM) Mobile Business to enhance its field service operations. The implementation of mobile asset management capabilities at Vattenfall will increase the efficiency of 1,500 service engineers, who are responsible for field installation and maintenance of energy facilities for utility customers, industrial customers, and private households. Using the SAP(R) solution, Vattenfall estimates that it will save more than 2 million Euros per year in productivity gains alone. With the new mobile asset management capabilities, Vattenfall Service employees will receive complete instructions and background information -- including up-to-the-minute information on customers, equipment, facilities, and assignments -- for service calls via mobile devices. The mobile solution enables service workers to process a repair contract while in the field. Via the mobile device, the service engineer can look at previous maintenance and repair history, view the set operations for a work order, and even order tools and materials needed for the job. After completing a contract, engineers can transmit the report via wireless devices as needed. This results in fewer mistakes, fewer lost opportunities, and less time spent on routine tasks. Moreover, Vattenfall Service will profit from stronger customer service, more efficient contract processing, and reduced costs through out-of-the-box functionality that can be deployed on inexpensive handheld devices. The company will also have greater flexibility in resource planning and customer service operations. "Thanks to efficient communication through mySAP Mobile Business, we anticipate that our employees will gain 30 minutes a day in productivity. If you multiply this by 1,500 service employees and approximately 120 working days per year, the return on investment is impressive," said Conny Frankenberg, IT project manager of Vattenfall Service. "We closely examined several options when selecting a solution and determined that SAP's broad range of functionality, reliability, and flexibility in integrating with our business processes would best serve our business."
