June 12, 2002
MINNEAPOLIS -- Ubiquio Corporation, a leading provider of services formobile and wireless devices, announced that it has completed its acquisition of Firewhite Inc.Silicon Valley-based Firewhite is the developer of the first automated provisioning system to support both PocketPC and Palm handheld computers. With the acquisition, Ubiquio gains a patent-pending technology that expands its product line to include both full-service and selfservice solutions for companies that are rolling out mobile and wireless systems. Terms were not disclosed.Already a major provider of outsourced mobile provisioning and management services, Ubiquio deploys thousands of devices each year for its customers. Provisioning makes a new mobile device ready for use by loading custom software, personalizing device or application settings, and activating a wireless connection. Firewhite’s automated provisioning system greatly reduces the manual labor needed to perform this task, lowering cost and defect rates while increasing scalability. Ubiquio forecasts the provisioning market at up to 1,000,000 devices in 2003.“One of the first things customers learn in a mobile pilot project is the need to automate or outsource the device roll-out,” said Charles Lukaszewski, Chief Executive Officer of Ubiquio. “The addition of Firewhite enables Ubiquio to offer a full range of solutions, from self-service tools for customers at a pilot stage to full-service outsourcing. In addition, systems integrators, device manufacturers and carriers are seeking a product like this to better serve theircustomers.”Ubiquio Corp.
