White Rock supplies its VLX2020 Sonet and VLX1010 DWDM systems for two-state expansion of Telepak's backbone transport network
February 3, 2004
RICHARDSON, Texas -- White Rock Networks today announced that it has been selected by Jackson, MS based Telepak Networks as one of its optical transport vendors. Initially, White Rock will supply its VLX2020® Next Generation SONET and VLX1010® DWDM systems for a two-state expansion of Telepak's backbone transport network. The initial network, which spans over 500 miles, is a multi-wavelength design utilizing White Rock's VLX2020 OC-48/192 SONET add-drop multiplexer (configured with the industry's first fully-tunable OC-192 optics), as well as White Rock's VLX1010 DWDM system. In order to meet the extended span distances required by Telepak's network topology, White Rock also supplied intelligent optical amplifiers as part of the overall solution. All elements of the network will be managed by White Rock's VLXpert® Element Management System.
"Telepak specializes in offering highly reliable, cost-efficient bandwidth to its customers" said Gregg Logan, Vice President of Telepak Networks. "White Rock's equipment, which offers significant CAPEX and OPEX savings over our traditional vendors, will assist us in meeting our goals. White Rock's willingness to work with Telepak engineers to design the optimum network for our applications as well as their "customer friendly" service policies were important factors in our selection of White Rock as our optical transport vendor of choice. In addition, the availability of fully-tunable OC-192 ITU optics on White Rock's platforms was very important since it will substantially reduce our spares holding and operations cost."
"White Rock is all about saving carriers money in their transport network - both CAPEX and OPEX" said Lonnie Martin, Founder and CEO of White Rock Networks. "Telepak has invested a significant amount of time in testing our product and verifying that we can do exactly what we say we can do. We are gratified to be working with them."
