Telenor surpasses 150M mobile subscribers

FORNEBU, Norway -- The total number of subscriptions in Telenor's mobile operations has now passed 150 million. This was announced at Telenor's Capital Markets Day on Thursday.
"We are happy to reach this new milestone, only a year and a half after we announced 100 million subscriptions. Since then, Telenor has experienced strong customer growth, especially in Pakistan and Bangladesh. As the world's seventh largest mobile operator, we are well-positioned for future growth, both in subscriptions and in mobile use among existing customers," said Telenor President and CEO, Jon Fredrik Baksaas.
The 150 million subscriptions figure is based on all subscriptions from both consolidated and associated companies.

OSLO, Norway -- Telenor Pakistan has climbed up the ranking of the Pakistani telecom sector and is now the country's second largest mobile operator according to latest figures released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
With a subscriber base of 17.84 million and a market share of 20.6 per cent, Telenor Pakistan has moved up to the number two position in Pakistan, ahead of Ufone at 17.80 million.
