ESPOO, Finland -- Aló-Megatel, a subsidiary of América Móvil in Honduras, has chosen Tecnomen to supply its prepaid system. Delivery is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2004.

Since its debut in November 2003, Aló-Megatel has signed up more than 150,000 wireless subscribers in Honduras. Aló-Megatel estimates its potential market in Honduras at 1 million subscribers. They plan to offer third-generation (3G) services comprising video, voice and data products.

Honduras has been experiencing significant development in the telecommunications sector after the end of a seven year monopoly within the industry. Delivering high quality services quickly and easily is crucial for our success. We already offer a wide variety of services that have not previously been available to customers in Honduras," says Mr David Ibarra, CEO Amex Honduras-Nicaragua. Tecnomens prepaid expertise and understanding of the Latin American marketplace will provide vital support to us in gaining a solid presence throughout the country."

This deal is important to both Tecnomen and Aló-Megatel. For Tecnomen, it demonstrates that operators see our solution as being of the highest quality," says Mr Oscar Fernandez, Managing Director, Tecnomen Latin America. For Aló-Megatels subscribers, this prepaid system will provide a great range of choice in terms of tariffing plans and service, as well as the flexibility of easy roaming. With customers in four countries in Central America [Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Honduras], this deal with Aló-Megatel expands our already strong presence in the region."
