COPENHAGEN -- The easyGroup has concluded an exclusive brand license agreement with TDC the leading Danish telecommunications company.

This agreement means that, later on this year, TDC will launch a low-price mobile company in the British market using the easy brand. The company will be operated along the lines of the Telmore concept.

”The advantage of a cooperation between easyGroup and TDC is evident: Telmore’s concept is the best one in the market; easyGroup has a good brand in Great Britain and in large parts of Europe; and we at TDC are first in class when it comes to operating a telecom company," says TDC’s President and CEO Henning Dyremose.

easyGroup’s founder and CEO Stelios Haji-Ioannou is behind a number of companies, the most well-known of them being the low-price airline company easyJet. The companies operate according to the same simple, web-based business concept. It is a value for money concept very similar to Telmore’s concept, and we are aiming at exploiting the synergies in this connection.

"In November 2003 The Economist ran a piece about "the similarities between telecoms firms and airlines" and mentioned Telmore as the easyJet of the telecoms industry. Naturally that caught my eye and after several months of intensive research I am delighted today that we are announcing this partnership! I think this is the best business model that offers the best value for money to the consumers by using innovation such as the use of the internet. Our aim is to make mobile telephony affordable to everybody. These are the core brand values of the easy brand. I am delighted that I found the best possible partners to launch the easy brand into its 12th industry in less than 10 years, says Stelios Haji-Ioannou."
