LEXINGTON, Mass. and OTTAWA -- Taral Networks, a provider of infrastructure to wireless operators and content aggregators, and ZIM Technologies, a mobile technology leader, today announced a partnership to use each other's products to leverage their MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) and SMS (Short Messaging Service) capabilities.

Under the arrangement, ZIM, Taral Networks' first customer in the North American market, will use Taral Networks' AirNgine Application-to-Person MMS Gateway to enable the delivery of multimedia content and applications in North America and eventually throughout the world. In return, Taral Networks will use the ZIM 2-way Global SMS Mobile Gateway for content delivery. Taral Networks will also receive a corporate license for ZIM SMS Office, ZIM's mobile office communication software.

"ZIM is pleased to partner with Taral for MMS capabilities," said Dr. Michael Cowpland, ZIM's President and CEO. "With the ability to send various combinations of voice and audio clips, text, photos, pictures and animations, MMS will greatly enhance our customers' ability to personalize and enrich their users' experience with mobility." Under the terms of the agreement ZIM and Taral Networks will share revenues generated by ZIM's MMS offering.

"AirNgine offers ZIM a robust MMS content and applications delivery platform, providing device management capabilities that will make it possible for ZIM to enhance the end-user MMS experience," said Vinit Nijhawan, president and CEO of Taral Networks. "Through this agreement, Taral Networks benefits from access to ZIM's 2-way SMS Global Mobile Gateway, providing us with yet another access point into the worldwide messaging channel. ZIM is known for their leading-edge, superior products that enhance the user's experience with mobility. We are excited to partner with ZIM and enter the North American market with such an innovative, visionary partner."

As part of the agreement, Taral Networks will receive an Enterprise Edition of ZIM's new mobile office software called ZIM SMS Office. With this product, Taral Networks' employees can connect to their office e-mail on their cellular phones and also reply to these messages, receive schedules and calendar reminders and even accept meetings booked in the corporate calendar via the handset.
