CALABASAS, Calif. -- Strix Systems, the leader in high-performance wireless mesh networking, today announced that it has appointed Martin Levetin as Vice President of Carrier and Municipal Networks. Levetin, who has extensive experience as an executive with wireless operators, will be responsible for driving Strix's sales to carriers, service providers, and municipalities around the world. He will report to Jim Mooreland, Vice President of Worldwide Sales.

"Martin's experience with carriers will undoubtedly help make Strix the leading wireless mesh vendor in the service provider market," said Mooreland. "Demand for Strix's solutions is growing rapidly, and to maintain our momentum it's vitally important that we have people like Martin on our team who are widely known and respected and who have a wealth of market knowledge that we can tap."

"Strix has really distinguished itself from the pack with its multi-channel, multi-radio, multi-RF solution, and the time is ripe for it to make a major push in the carrier and municipal markets," said Levetin. "I've spent many years on the carrier side of this business, and I'm convinced that Strix is well on its way to becoming the dominant force in the wireless mesh market."

Levetin is a business executive with more than 30 years of high-tech and telecommunications experience. Prior to joining Strix, he was an executive at NeoReach Wireless (a MobilePro subsidiary), which has built out and is operating Tempe WAZmetro, the largest operational wireless mesh network in the United States, now being expanded to the neighboring cities of Chandler and Gilbert, reaching 187 square miles of contiguous network coverage. As vice president of NeoReach Wireless, Levetin pioneered the municipal wireless business with an open business platform model and established the company as a leading municipal wireless operator. Before that, he was founder and CEO of Evergreen Open Broadband, a wireless service provider acquired by NeoReach; CEO of Sharegate, founder and COO of CopperCom, a pioneering VoDSL company; and CEO of Socket Communications. Levetin was also a venture partner at Blueprint Ventures and a senior executive at RAM Mobile Data. Earlier in his career he held technical and marketing positions at Bell Labs and Lucent. He holds a BSEE and a PhD in EE from Northeastern University and an MS in management from Pace University.
