TEWKSBURY, Mass. -- Movilnet, a leading mobile operator in Venezuela, has selected Starent Networks to provide key network infrastructure for its next generation data services. The agreement calls for Starent Networks to provide its ST16 Intelligent Mobile Gateway for data service access in Movilnet’s CDMA2000 1X and 1xEV-DO network.
Key to the deployment is Starent Networks’ ability to provide pre-paid data services through the carrier’s existing pre-paid network architecture. The Starent ST16 platform provides tremendous performance advantages, but also service flexibility and enhanced charging capabilities as demonstrated by the pre-paid requirements. Services enabled by the network include: Internet browsing, WAP, MMS, BREW, among others.
“Movilnet has established itself as a leader in next generation services for Venezuela. Our addition of high-speed data and our commitment to our customers dictates that we install the best service delivery equipment,” said Ernesto Ramos Henningsen, chief technical officer for Movilnet. “The Starent ST16 was an ideal solution for our deployment as it has the performance qualities and the service capabilities we require.”
“We are pleased to be working with a market leading operator like Movilnet,” said Ashraf Dahod, president and CEO or Starent Networks Corporation. “With the high performance characteristics of our solution, Movilnet subscribers can expect a superior service experience, while also benefiting from the billing flexibility of the platform’s enhanced charging capabilities.”
