OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Sprint (NYSE: FON - News, PCS - News) today announced the expansion of its global SprintLink(TM) Internet Protocol (IP) network to include Seoul, South Korea, and the acquisition of a Value-added Service Provider license for the provision of corporate IP and data services to the Korean market.

In Seoul to formally launch Sprint's new capability, Bhaskar Thyagarajan, Sprint's vice president for Asia-Pacific, said Sprint now offers multinational corporations, ISPs and carriers enhanced regional and global connectivity in addition to access to market-leading IP network technology and applications.

"Korea's world leadership in domestic broadband penetration ensures its place as an essential location in Sprint's Asia-Pacific and global network footprint. Since establishing an office here in late 2002, Sprint has found Korean organizations eager to embrace new communications providers and leading-edge technologies that underpin their own export-driven growth strategies," Thyagarajan said.

Korea is a strategic addition to Sprint's expanding presence in Asia- Pacific, closely following the company's establishment of facilities in Taiwan and New Zealand last year.

Kei Furuta, managing director for Sprint in Korea and Japan, commented that Sprint's growing regional presence and positioning as one of the few global network players provides a compelling reason for multinational organizations to utilize the Sprint network.

"Access to manufacturing bases in China and South East Asia, coupled with access to international export markets like the United States and Europe, are driving companies to seek good regional and global network coverage and cost- efficient methods of achieving connectivity," Furuta said. "Sprint is well placed on both counts. We continue to add key Asia-Pacific and global centers to our network reach and develop innovative IP-based solutions to support the dynamic and competitive multinational business environment."
